An artist based in Berlin and Tokyo.
Through the material construction of sound and music, his work gives spatial and temporal form to the contours of the untouchable.
Shinji Wakasa is a sound and installation artist and composer based in Berlin and Tokyo. His practice explores how sound can shape space, bodily perception, and unstable relations between presence and absence. Through multichannel installations, performance, and sculptural sound environments, he creates ritualized situations of listening in which resonance, distance, and material vibration become central compositional elements. Recent presentations include the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, Sony Park Mini, M.A.G.M.A Gallery, Culterim Residency, and Migas Berlin.
